Outdoor Activities in Aruba

Land Sports

This could be a dream come true for many who gorge in outdoor activities which are strewn with challenges and heart-wrenching adventures. For instance you could be climbing up a pot-marked limestone wall of a steep rock or the exhilarating sea breeze kissing your cheeks and running through your hair as you accelerate the Jet Ski to its top speed. You could have a literal bird's eye view as you get airborne while kite-surfing.

Bus & Jeep Tours

If you are tired of tourist maps and have only a day to scan the island with all its myriad attractions take the just and jeep tour. You could opt for a jeep tour called the ‘wagon train' which could be part of a trail consisting of 10 or more 4 wheel drive vehicles such as jeeps and land rovers. These organized and planned jeep tours would take you to the California Lighthouse, alluring Alto Vista chapel, Bushiribana gold mill, Seroe Crystal, famous Natural Bridge, traveling along back roads to thesite of the Guadirikiri caves. The journey would then finish at a private island which is situated just a 5 minute ferryride from the main island.

Cycle Tours

One of the best parts about exploring Aruba is that it is small enough for a cycling buff to enjoy this desert island's gorgeous terrain. The mountain bike is your best option for touring in this way as most of the roads across the island are sandy. Exhaustion is out of the question as most of the terrain is on flat land.

The hot and sunny weather is given a break often with Aruba's cool and soothing trade winds. Of course it is wise to travel with adequate sunscreen to prevent the elements from causing damage to the skin.

Tourist agencies and rental outlets are your friends when you want to hire bicycles in Oranjestad. In case you wish to join a group excursion, check out the details at the hotel where you have put up.

Horse Back Riding

Aruba can actually make you feel like the modern day John Wayne as you ride into the sunset amongst its exotic terrain filled with dusty sand dunes and desert like plains. As you trot down its terrain exploring its plethora of untouched beauty, your Wild West experience can be permanently etched on your mind. Though previous horse riding experience is not mandatory, carrying your own sun tan lotion could be highly recommended.

ATV Tours

All Terrain Vehicle (ATV) are organized tours to explore the wild Aruba. A must-do activity for all adventure seeking buffs, these tours are accompanied by an expert guide who takes you through the network of charming streets of Aruba where you could see the local homes of residents. The colorful experience is bound to thrill you, however stoic you might be.

Of course, as soon as the paved roads are over, your tour takes on the bumpy and bouncy countryside – which has another flavor altogether.

To peep into the island's past glory, visit the gold mine ruins or travel through the trails of the famous ‘hills' of Aruba from where you could get a panoramic view of the cunucu.

The raw and rugged beaches of this island is an experience in a class of its own, where the sun shimmers gently as the thrashing waves kiss the shores for a unique ‘natural' display of mother nature. To ride a ATV you got to be over 18 years of age.
